About Sammons Wealth Management
Stephanie Sammons, CFP®
Hi there, I’m Stephanie Sammons, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Wealth Manager with more than 25 years of experience partnering with my clients to and through retirement.
My focus as a financial advisor is helping women and LGBTQ professionals who are 50+ plan for and experience their ideal retirement life.
I founded my firm, Sammons Wealth Management, after many years of working for large brokerage firms. I wanted to become an independent, fiduciary, fee-only advisor so that I could offer my clients unbiased financial advice and guidance.
As a fiduciary and fee-only financial advisor, I am held to a higher standard to always put my clients’ best interests first. I do not sell products, charge commissions, or accept third-party referral fees.
Throughout my 20+ year career as a financial advisor, I’ve been a W2 employee, a senior-level manager at large financial firms, and a business owner as the CEO of my own firm. This diverse experience has given me in-depth financial, tax, compensation (deferred and equity compensation), and savvy retirement planning knowledge across the career spectrum. I bring this experience to the table with my clients who are employees, managers, executives, and business owners.
Prior to founding Sammons Wealth Management, most of my career was spent serving as a private wealth manager for Merrill Lynch and UBS. I also held senior level management positions at both of these firms. I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 2005.

My mission is simple, I want to teach you how to retire smart, secure, and happy!
The More Personal Side
I grew up in Plano, Texas where I was the mascot at my high school and an All-District basketball player (point guard). In my college days I played basketball for the University of Oklahoma and Midwestern State University (Texas). I was a team captain and an Academic All American at Midwestern, a top 20 team in the country. My college degree was in Economics. To this day I still think like an economist – big picture, strategic, and always weighing the opportunity costs in life!
I’m married to my long-time partner of 14 years, Dallas Texas “Super Lawyer” Kay Van Wey. I’m a Stepmom to our two sons Nicholas (20) and Benjamin (17). We have two puppy dogs; a Chihuahua (Sugar Bear) and an Australian-Shepherd mix (Sadie). Sugar Bear is in charge. 🙂
For fun, I enjoy being a singer-songwriter and playing the guitar. I’ve spent time studying songwriting with some of the best singer-songwriters in the business in Nashville. I perform from time to time, and you can find my music wherever you listen.
I also enjoy staying active with strength training, yoga, cycling, golf, hiking, and snowboarding. I’m an avid reader and researcher, technology geek, lover of Willamette Valley Pinot’s, and a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan.
